Playa del Carmen does not have its own airport: travelers usually arrive via Cancun Airport or the new Tulum International Airport, which now welcomes direct flights from certain countries and domestic flights from Mexico and the US.

From these airports, the transfer to Playa del Carmen takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Despite this extra time, Playa remains easily accessible, and its proximity allows you to quickly visit other points of interest in the Riviera Maya.

It is also possible to use Uber in downtown Cancún only. Uber is not allowed at the airport and is not available in the hotel zone, where official taxis remain the only option.

The walk from Playacar can take over 40 minutes, making a taxi more convenient, especially in the evening (expect to pay around 200 pesos – $12). Please note that Uber is not available in Playa del Carmen.
