About Me
Hi! My name is Vanessa Huet, and I’m the creator of the Voyage Mexique blog.
I was born in Montreal, in a multicultural family where stories about history, faraway places, and long trips were always part of the conversation.
So naturally, as a kid, I spent my time daydreaming about adventures with Tintin and Indiana Jones!
I first studied languages, then political science at Concordia University, followed by a degree in tourism management at ITHQ.
My life changed in 2009 thanks to a tourism internship in Peru — a life-changing experience that led me to launch the Peru Travel blog in 2011 and move to Lima in 2014.
After several years exploring that incredible country, I felt the pull to discover another part of Latin America.
In early 2018, on a whim, I set off solo to Mexico for three months.
I was absolutely blown away by the diversity of Mexico — exploring the vast Yucatán Peninsula, the stunning Chiapas region, and the vibrant Mexico City!
But my biggest crush in Mexico was Calakmul, a massive ancient Maya city hidden deep in the jungle.
Climbing up and down the steps of Calakmul’s pyramids, I felt like little Vanessa again — dreaming of adventures with Indiana Jones. A feeling I’ll never forget!
In 2019, I launched the Voyage Mexique blog to give future travelers all the practical tools they need to plan their trip themselves: transportation, schedules, where to stay, travel tips, great deals, and more.
Today, I live in the big, fascinating city of Mexico City, which also happens to be the perfect base for exploring every corner of the country.
